CHARLIE ROSS FILES QUALIFICATION PAPERS FOR MISSISSIPPI'S THIRD CONGRESSIONAL DISTRICT

Charlie Ross filed qualifying papers Wednesday at the Mississippi Republican Party headquarters to run for Mississippi's Third Congressional District. Ross served as a Senator for District 20 in the Mississippi Senate from 1998 until 2008. District 20 is comprised of parts of Madison and Rankin Counties. Prior to serving in the Senate, he served as the representative for House District 59 in the Mississippi House of Representatives. He has also served as Chairman of the Rankin County Republican Party Executive Committee. "Sharon and I are extremely excited about the opportunity to run for the Third Congressional District," said Ross. "Chip Pickering has done an outstanding job of representing the district. Mississippi needs a Congressman that has a proven legislative record that shows he can hit the ground running and get things done immediately. If elected, I will fight to strengthen our national defense, defend Mississippi's military installations, guard the rights of the unborn, protect our individual Second Amendment rights, and promote economic development for the district. "

Charlie, a veteran of Operation Desert Storm, is a 1978 distinguished graduate of the Air Force Academy. In 1988, he graduated with honors from Harvard Law School. He and his wife Sharon have three boys-Andy, age 25; David, age 22; and Steven, age 18. He is a shareholder with the law office of Wise Carter Child and Caraway in Jackson. Ross and his family have lived in Rankin County since 1988.
